GATE 2017 Syllabus Key Points
- The exam conducting body generally designs the GATE syllabus in a way to evaluate the candidates concept of the subject and their problem-solving ability.
- Further, With the help of GATE syllabus, the candidates are tested for their time management and aptitude skill.
- It is advisable for the candidates to go thoroughly through the syllabus of their particular paper and should leave out the topics not covered in GATE syllabus.

GATE 2017 Syllabus for General Aptitude (GA)
This section will be common to all the papers. The General Aptitude test will consist of
- Verbal Ability: English grammar, sentence completion, verbal analogies, word groups, instructions, critical reasoning and verbal deduction.
- Numerical Ability: Numerical computation, numerical estimation, numerical reasoning and data interpretation.
