GATE 2017 Eligibility CriteriaGATE 2017 Eligibility Criteria: The IIT Roorkee, the exam conducting authority has released the important dates for GATE 2017. The candidates via GATE 2017 will be given admissions into  various Postgraduate courses in IITs, NITs , other GFTIs and other reputed private institute/universities of India. The GATE 2017 will be valid for three years. The GATE 2017 examination is scheduled to be held on 04, 05, 11 and 12 February 2017. The GATE 2017 application process will start from 01 September.  Therefore, for candidates appearing for GATE-2017, it becomes necessary to go through the eligibility criteria before filling the form. Since, only those candidates will be eligible for the GATE examination, who fulfils the eligibility criteria as per the information brochure. GATE 2017 Eligibility Criteria  – Detailed Information

The candidates who are having any one of the following qualifications can apply for GATE 2017.

  1. The candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology(4 years after 10+2 or 3 years after Diploma). Candidates appearing in the final year are also eligible to apply for GATE.
  2. The candidates who are having a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (5 years course). Candidates appearing in the final year are also eligible to apply for GATE.
  3. The candidates who are having a Bachelor’s degree in Science ( 4-year course). Candidates who are in the final year are also eligible to apply for GATE.
  4. The candidates should be having a Master’s degree in any  branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/ Computer Applicants or equivalents. Candidates appearing in the final year are also eligible to apply for GATE.
  5. The candidates having four-year Integrated Master’s Degree (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology.  The candidates who are in second or higher year are also eligible to apply for GATE.
  6. The candidates having five-year Integrated Master’s Degree or Dual Degree in Engineering/ Technology program. The candidates who are in fourth or higher year are also eligible to apply for GATE.
  7. As per the GATE 2017 Eligibility Criteria, The candidate should possess a five-year Integrated M.Sc. or B.Sc./MSc. Degree. The candidates who are in the final  year are also eligible to apply for GATE.
  8. The candidates who have qualified by giving the examinations equivalent to B.E/B.Tech , conducted by professional societies and recognised by UPSC/AICTE.
  9. The candidates who have completed section A of AMIE or equivalent are also eligible to apply for GATE.

New Additions in GATE 2017:  

For the GATE 2017 examination, the exam conducting body has made some new changes. Have a look below.

  • For GATE 2017, the examination shall be held for international candidates in Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia and United Arab Emirates (U.A.E).
  • The XE paper now has a new section i.e Section H. This section H will be on the Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences. With this, the number of sections in the XE paper has increased to eight (A-H).
