CDS 2016CDS 2016: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released employment notification for Combined Defence Services (CDS-II) including SSC Women (Non-technical) course on 16 July 2016. Interested eligible candidate can fill the application form online on the  website- The registration form will be accepted via online mode only from 16 July to 12 Aug 2016. The conducting body of the CDS examination is Union Public Service Commission. CDS 2 Exam is going to be held on 23 October 2016. Both males and female shall be eligible to apply. 

Before applying, it is essential that the aspirants should read the notification thoroughly. Combined Defence Services (CDS) Exam is conducted biannually to fill up the number of vacancies in the following courses –

  • Indian Military Academy, Dehradun 142 Course
  • Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala Course (
  • Air Force Academy, Hyderabad (Pre-flying) Training Course
  • Officers Training Academy, Chennai 19th SSC Course  (Non-Technical)

CDS Eligibility Criteria 2016 – A graduate in any stream or equivalent is required for applying. Candidates appearing in their final year can also apply for this exam provided they will furnish essential graduation degree before the commencement of the training.

Age Limit –  As CDS 2016 exam is conducted in order to recruit candidates for Indian Army, Indian Air force, and Indian Navy. There are different age limits prescribed for the respective services.

Indian Air force 20-24 years
Indian Navy Born between 02 July 1993 and 01 July 1998

CDS Application Form 2016

CDS II application form is available now. Candidate can fill the form till 12 August 2016. Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria can apply by visiting UPSC online application form link. The candidate has to mention his personal and educational details and scan and upload photograph and signature. The candidate has to pay examination fee either by online mode like credit cards/visa cards/net banking, one can pay exam fee offline by taking out the challan print and submit it to the SBI Bank along with the examination fee.

CDS Admit Card 2016

Admit Card will be available on UPSC website 2 weeks prior to the commencement of exam. On successful completion of application form, one can download admit card by entering application number and date of birth. Admit card is the essential document in order to write CDS 2016 exam. One can find roll number and details of examination centre on the admit card.

CDS Exam Pattern 2016

The written Exam has 3 sections mainly English, General Knowledge, and Elementary Mathematics. The paper will consist of 100 marks each for every section making it a paper of total 300 marks. Time duration is 2 hours each for each section.  For IMA, Indian Air force and Indian Navy all the sections are mandatory while for OTA Short service commission candidates will be judged on English And General knowledge sections.

CDS Selection Procedure 2016

Selection will be done on the basis of marks secured in written CDS 2016 exam and SSB interview test conducted by respective forces board. There will be a medical test and certain physical requirements essential in order to get selected for India defence services.

CDS Answer Key 2016

The answer key is released by the UPSC so that the candidates can check the correct attempts. Using the answer key, candidates can also calculate their estimated score and compare it with the previous score so that they can compare it with the previous year’s cutoff and analyse to know the chances of the selection. 

CDS Cut off 2016

A cut off will be decided as per the number of vacancies. There will be a cut off for CDS 2016 written exam followed by cut off for SSB interview. Lastly, a final cutoff will be made as per the marks scored in written and SSB interview.

CDS Result 2016

The result of the written is expected to out after 3 months of commencement of paper. A final result mentioning the selected candidates name for India Defense  forces will be uploaded after the commencement of SSB and medical procedure.
